Introducing WISH AS ONE: Joy House

For the past few years, I’ve been dreaming up a new concept with my dear friend Vanessa Till Hooper. I’m thrilled to announce our latest project. You’re invited to wish with me and enjoy the GLOBAL RELEASE of WISH AS ONE: JOY HOUSE, a virtual concert uniting artists from around the world in celebration of joy, resilience, and solidarity, specifically for the Burmese people living in Thailand after decades of unrest in Myanmar.

With so many conflicts raging in the world, entire communities live in a state of unrelenting stress, trauma, and despair – unable to access the joy that is their birthright. This virtual concert features performances by Myanmar’s Lynn Lynn, violinist Phoe San, The Brothers Koren, and the global collaboration “Send the Wind” written by The Durgas in 2008 and reimagined and performed with artists from around the world. In addition, we’re inviting people to WISH AS ONE, so they can share words of support, encouragement, and care for people they will likely never meet.

At the time of this posting, I’m currently in the midst of the biggest firestorm Los Angeles has ever experienced. The outpouring of messages of love and support has been the single biggest balm to the suffering that so many are currently experiencing. Words matter. Art inspires. Love heals.

As someone who believes in the spirit of creativity, the power of collective imagination, and the positive impact that happens when people come together, it’s been an honor to be the co-founder of WISH AS ONE, a unique platform for creating intention-setting artwork, together.

This global concert is in support of Joy House, a non-profit healing center in Mae Sot, Thailand where a small team of professional artists from Myanmar, create workshops and classes in music, visual arts, poetry, dance, and storytelling, empowering the local community to heal and rediscover joy.

This fundraising event aims to purchase 1,000 musical instruments to empower professional artists who have fled Myanmar to uplift their community through music and expressive arts. Instruments will also be shared with local Thai schools and delivered to refugees displaced within Myanmar.

For the entire month of January, you can make a wish, access the concert, and if you feel so inspired, make a donation as a gesture of support.

Whether or not you can contribute, we invite you to send a wish to the Joy House community to be included in the final WISH AS ONE artwork. 💌

Together, we can WISH AS ONE and create a brighter future through music and art. Let’s heal through creativity, plant seeds of hope, and make change a reality.
